Project Overview

Professional Systems Engineering, LLC provided a Master Plan to include physicalsecurity plan objectives at the McMillan site. This addressed numerous elements withregard to mitigating risk, increasing safety, while improving both the actual physicaland “appearance” levels of security. The goals had been improve aspects of self-reliance of the community that is being constructed to allow safe travel, whether bypublic transportation, private vehicle, or walking, to be accomplished – while employingprinciples of security such as CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design). This included recommendations for improving security for the site, context of borders andterritory, communication requirements such as signage or ability to contact emergencyservices, while including more tangible aspects such as lighting, occupancy transition, and contractor/deliveries security.

The security Master Plan for McMillan Slow Sand Filtration Site it reflects a study of the Borders and Territory that are established by the Public/ Private Partnership and Vision McMillan Partners. It is stated that the borders are clear, territory established, and visibility fairly good. It is noted that the visibility of some of the park and recreation areas such as the splash pool and playground are depressed, as well as the Filtration Sand (Museum) area completely hidden.
