Project Overview

Professional Systems Engineering, LLC (PSE) provided expert fire and technology consulting and engineering service to Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, for their historic Kirkpatrick Chapel. Rutgers required an engineering firm of the highest caliber for the technologies retrofit within this magnificent historic building. PSE provided the complete scope of services, working directly with Rutgers building and construction staff. PSE also provided design, bid, and construction consulting services to the university.

PSE blended technology into the historic architecture of this beautiful brownstone Chapel c. 1872. Kirkpatrick Chapel is part of the Queen’s College Historic District on the original Rutgers campus. It is a classic example of High Victorian Gothic ecclesiastical architecture, with some of the first opalescent and multicolored sheet glass manufactured in America within the chapel’s stained glass windows.
