Project Overview

Professional Systems Engineering, LLC (PSE) provided fire protection design services for fire protection of a substation enclosure. PSE evaluated multiple detection and suppression methods and developed risk vs. effectiveness corrections to provide the optimal design.

The objectives of this project were to design a new building envelope system to enclose the 12.47kV switchgear to prevent further corrosion and prevent dilapidation of equipment. Correct deficiencies with the switchgear enclosure, and extend the life of the existing equipment, provide a site design to accommodate the new main substation building and provide a site utility design to the existing site for the new facility. Site utilities included but are not limited to storm water management, parking, electric power, site lighting, potable water, fire protection water, natural gas, telecommunications, data service, physical security, building automation system (BAS), PMCS, fire protection, detection and alarm services.
