| Project Profile: Maryland Correctional Training Center Hagerstown, MD Project: Perimeter Security & Communication Improvements Client: Maryland Dept. Of Public Safety & Correctional Services (DPSCS), Division of Correction (DOC) Scope of Work: MCTC is an example of highly technical digital communication electronics engineering applied to security design. The site required positive identification and early warning of attempted State prison inmate escapes as well as computer control of all access/egress at the institution. PSE’s unique perimeter system effectively protects the community and pubic with more than two miles of fencing and nine miles of piercing barbed tape for the State of Maryland Department of Corrections. The fence barriers use an attached digital signal processing system that can sense any cut, climb or breach while it is virtually immune to the effects of wind, snow and ice. Custom, covert arrays of microwave and passive infrared detectors, mounted in a “plinth arrangement” sense an intruder from a distance of up to 330’. These “plinths” are virtually immune to wind, rain, snow and fog and their detection characteristics/aiming is hidden from all views–providing the perfect covert coverage. |
