What Exactly is 1 Volt Peak-to-Peak?

No matter what camera you use and no matter what you use the camera for, you must do two things:

  • Convert the picture to electrons.

  • Transmit the electrons through a wire or wirelessly through the air.
Manufacturers will often require 1 volt peak to peak for full faceplate illumination – or to put it another way, to get the picture that they say is their best.

To get this 1 volt is a lot easier than it used to be. With the lower light cameras and higher sensitivity of the electronic equipment, obtaining this optimum voltage to be transferred as electrons for a usable picture over cable or wireless is easily attainable in most situations.
